Properties in Lazio

As mentioned above, the landscape, especially in the north, is reminiscent of parts of Tuscany and Umbria and this applies to the style of architecture too. The many great civilisations of the area throughout history have strongly influenced this region. The medieval, fortified hill towns, the Roman and Etruscan ruins, the monasteries and convents, point to the many great civilisations that have lived in the area. The countryside is full of wonderful 17th, 18th and 19th century houses, all in the typical Italian architecture so loved by foreigners. Lazio is gloriously undeveloped, a fact reflected in the property prices.

 The region (apart from Rome) really is the heart of "Undiscovered Italy". Depending on your search criteria, you have the choice of rustic village houses and country cottages, a seaside apartment or villa on the coast, a grand town house or apartment either in Rome or one of the smaller cities in the region, a farm, villa or estate in the country, or even a disused monastery!

Rome itself is obviously a major attraction of the area, not only for its cultural interests and the shopping, but also for the easy access it provides to the rest of Europe and further.

There are frequent flights to and from all major destinations and once there, most of Lazio is within an hour's drive from the airport.
